ditch, is a venue primarily for Canadian alternative poets, although we do accept work from International writers.
ditch, publishes work that is non-linear, abstract, surreal, avant-garde, alternative, and/or experimental.
Reads year round. Usually replies within one month.
There is no regular publishing schedule, the site will be updated when new work is ready to be posted. Work remains on the Current Issue page for a minimum of two months, after that it may be moved to the archive.
Submissions:
1. Submissions may be in English or en français.
2. Previously published work is acceptable.
3. All submissions must contain a statement to the effect that the submitter is the copyright holder.
4. Please include a brief bio and a picture with your submission. Bio should include where you are from, a list of publications your work has previously appeared in, any books you have published, any awards you have won or been short-listed for, and any other literary credits (editing work, writing schools attended, etc.).
5. Send the work in the body of an e-mail or, if formatting is important, as an attachment formatted as it should appear on the page (it's helpful if submissions are in 10 pt Georgia, Verdana or Courier New - it avoids a lot of formatting problems since spacing etc changes from font to font). ditch, will make every effort to preserve the formatting as submitted. Send to:
ditch@ditchpoetry.com 6. If sending an attachment, cut and paste the entire submission into one .doc or .rtf file (including bio and publishing credits). Pictures or visual poetry may be sent as separate files.
7. ditch, reserves electronic publishing rights and first print anthology rights only.
ditch, retains the rights as long as the work remains on the site. Material will be removed from the site at the copyright holder’s request.
8. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay contributors at this time.
9. The hard line: don't submit any haiku, formal rhyming verse, or mainstream-linear-narrative poetry.
