ditch,

the poetry that matters

Constance Stadler

Constance Stadler is the co-editor of the e-zine "Eviscerator Heaven". With more than two hundred publications in various journals and anthologies, her most recent work appears in Gloom Cupboard. As a political anthropologist specializing in North Africa, and classically trained violinist, her influences are multiform.

Work in formative years with the late poet Gwendolyn Brooks was a seminal influence, but no less so than Sufi Dervish dancers, and the challenges of mastering Bruch's first concerto.

Our two-step pathétique.

Wooden glissandos

impassionatas.

oh, my succulence
my flesh, yes
           it screams for touch
such
raging tendrils
Fire.
yes, the curve
of my curve
IS the archway
to ecstasy
yes, yes, drowning in vaginal rivulets….

Sweet, good-night
Yes, I glisten in dew.
And stardust illumes my doe-eyes.

Oh. fear not
My swain
                  I will
                         Surely
                  Call you.

You have inflamed my boredom
Such syncopated palaver
Intoned with such feeling
